Why should I eat more to lose weight?

In order to increase your metabolic rate, and have your body constantly burning calories, one needs to eat at least 4-6 times a day.  Our bodies have the ability to sustain themselves for about 4 hours before glucose levels drop.  When that happens the body will catabolize itself (see eat your carbs).  This is not healthy, and instead of losing weight your body starts to store nutrients because it doesn’t feel like it’s going to get more food, and it adapts to that storage mode.

If you’re consistently eating every 2 to 3 hours your body will start to expend energy to break down the food; this in turn will burn more calories and speed up your metabolism.

Want to lose weight?

  • Meals should include all food groups (Carbs, Proteins, and Fats)
  • Eat every 2-3 hours
  • Drink lots of water (see Importance of Water)
  • Have a sound exercise program
  • Sleep well
