How To Breath
When performing a stiff leg deadlift, it’s important to know exactly how to breath.
At the start of the movement when you hinge at the hips and bend down, you want to exhale. By doing this you release tension in the muscle and body, allowing the hamstrings to relax for a greater range of motion.
Next when you’re pulling back up into extension, you’re inhaling, this causes the diaphragm to expand creating a firm base for your spine preventing injury. I know it seems backwards, and most trainee’s are told to exhale during exertion, but with certain exercises the breathing is altered.
Remember while doing the “Stiff Leg Deadlift” Exhale on the downward phase, and Inhale while coming up into extension.
